World Of Motion - Project Europe

Time flies when you're having fun...

Wow, a month has passed since I last posted something here. 

This school is super intense, we get project after project while having personal goals of learning softwares as well. It gets a little stressed but then again i'm having loads of fun. I wonder how it'll feel around next June when I graduate..?

I have something to show you, some behind the scenes footage. 

Again, this is filmed with my iphone so not the best quality. 

We had our first project in smaller groups on the theme World Of Motion were each group had to research an continent. We talked and mailed people, studios and production companies from the industry around the world. Each group gathered the interviews into a presentation of their own choice. Some made the presentation entirely in live action, some in 2D, 3D, keynote. My group did a mix of stop motion and 2D. We built paper landscaped that presented different parts of Europe. Southern Europe, Western Europe, Eastern Europe, Central Europe etc.

First showreel - Motion Creatives '14 Stockholm

It's been a month of full speed into different projects, group work and a lot of fun. 

I'm so proud of our class, it's been hectic with very short deliveries with every brief and we've managed to complete all of them with excellent work and presentation. 

Our first showreel is up for viewing! 

Take 48 creative people from different countries and backgrounds,
give them two days to present themselves as a class.

Life as a student

So a new chapter in life has begun. 

I'm studying Motion Graphics design at Hyper Island here in Stockholm, full time for 1 year. 

Already 2 weeks have passed and I've come to understand and feel the intensity of this school. 

We've had some interesting lectures on digital media and much more. 

There's been a lot of challenges, individual and in small and larger groups. 

Lot's of time for reflection and a lot of fun energizers!

     We also have lots of fun! Excuse the awful mobile quality...

Barcelona

Just got back home from another great holiday trip to Barcelona. Needless to say but we love this city!

We had cava for breakfast - because we could! :)

 Gaudi sculptures and architecture were spotted all over the city.

One of the highlights were Montserrat. We travelled by train up to this view and it was absolutely breathtaking. This large mountain even has it's own monastery, imagine living up there all year around!

A little nap was most necessary in the heat.

We went for a quick visit to Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Barcelona.

Found an awesome print shop, wish we had this in Stockholm!

And now we're back home to this little dudette!!

Cat Faces!

 Recognize this face from my blog banner? it's originally a part of an older illustration of mine. One I might show you in the future, as for now I'm not sure if I want to use it for something else or not. I'm thinking of making these below into cards for the shop, what do you think?

 I made some samples just to try it out, in raspberry pink.

WIP: Between sisters

I'm working on a new drawing for the upcoming exhibition I'm having with my sister this fall. This is a work in progress, digital drawing from a photo I took earlier this month when visiting my family. See previous post if you're curious!

Hola España!

I took a week off and went to sunny Spain.

Went on beach walks with my mom... 

...on afternoon strolls overlooking the ocean from the dunes...

...through the pine forest with it's heavenly scent.

Started on the 3rd book by Carlos Ruiz Zafón, (thrilling!)

Made friends with adorable Felix and Messi, love!

Made fun plans with my sister about our coming exhibition together, on swedish below.

Exhibition work in progress - Between sisters

Great news, my sister and I will have an exhibition together this fall so we're in the stages of producing: 

The theme is sisterhood. Our relationship as sisters, as artisans, youth and adulthood. 

A Day In Photos - Went Sailing!

My summer couldn't have started better. Last Saturday we had an amazing day on a old steamboat with friends out in the archipelago. There's really nothing like this to remind you of the beauty we're surrounded by here in Stockholm.  

The evening passed to a bright nordic night and we strolled the streets of the Old Town. 

I was totally surprised by this wonderful sailing event! This means I can check off the sailing in my list of to do this summer. It seems I'm off on a good start this summer.

Let's Go! - New illustrated summer theme

This is what I'm constantly thinking about. Unfortunately I do not have a boat, nor a fishing rod or a swimsuit. The last one is however possible to get hold of and affordable. 

Some of my goals for this summer is these activities, what are yours? I need inspiration for new drawings. I'm thinking of hiking, mountain climbing....what else? any suggestions are welcomed!

Work in progress / Illustration and textiles

I'm working on some new illustrations, part of a series in three with the theme summer/ocean.

Very dreamy and very retro. I can't wait for summer to arrive. I'm hoping for a long hot dry summer, to go swimming, for picnics in the park etc. Us swedes are very sensitive when it comes to the weather as we have to endure a very very very very very long winter before the sun even shows up in mid march.

Bike ride - New illustration

Spring is finally here and that for me means lots of bicycling on my orange bicycle. 

This bike used to be my mothers and now I have it. I admit it's not the safest and fastest bike - it needs lots of reparation and some parts needs changing....but still...it works and looks like a dream, my orange pearl!

Poster project

I thought I'd try making my own gig poster for fun and this below is the result. This is not an official gig poster for First Aid Kit just my way of showing my appreciation and admiration for their music. 

Jag testade att göra en gig-affisch med First Aid Kit som band eftersom jag tycker att dessa tjejer helt enkelt gör fantastisk musik. Och så gillar jag ju affischer över huvud taget, särskilt gig-affischer.

Personalized Pet Portrait: Meet George & Piper!

I was thrilled when asked to make another custom drawing, this time of beautiful kittens George and Piper. 

Can't tell you how lucky I feel to get paid for drawing cats! I'm sincerely honored every time someone asks me if I can draw their pet for them. 

I'm home with a cold and all I feel like doing at this moment is to crawl beside those adorable soft swan babies and sleep sweet dreams...
