Hans Arnold

The Illustrations of Hans Arnold is always inspiring to me as I've mentioned before. So I went to his exhibition at Seriegalleriet with Nicole and to my big surprise He, Hans Arnold in person was there! was I a lucky girl or what!? After talking to him a bit I told Nicole I felt like a little girl again having a star struck moment. Haven't felt that in ages! I walked out of the gallery with a signed copy of the childrens book AllraKäraste Syster and a signed poster.
I first noticed his illustrations as a little girl reading AllraKäraste Syster. I don't actually remember the story that much just that it was a sad story about two twin sisters. The story is by Astrid Lindgren. What I do remember is those drawings! so detailed and alive. It left a print in my head and heart. He often did illustrations for horror teen/children books which I absolutely love. He also did that famous vinyl cover for ABBA.
His book Veckans Chock is on my want list.

My sister has now her own blog with her beautiful oil paintings. I'm so proud! She IS inspiration to me. Here's the link The Weekly

Hair accessory

I was bored and wanted to do something special with my hair before going to a friends party but it didn't turn out very well so in my disappointment I crocheted a hair ribbon with a flower in black and gone was my dreariness!

First photo of me with a large beer tankard of Nina Nikkilä.
Second with bad cell phone sharpness.

A long and sunny stroll

A day off from work, sunshine, nostalgia and love made this late january walk unforgettable. We really didn't have a goal for our walk or a destination so we climbed up some hills, walked through fields and forests, saw old childhood playgrounds and had wonderful conversations meanwhile. The nature is truly inspirational to me. I really feel I can breath there, heck I should move to the country! I guess I am a country girl alright.

I photographed these with my cell phone!

Purse

I sewed this little purse together with a fabric from IKEA. The big black button was found in a yarn shop in Gamla Stan, there were lots of buttons gathered in a big bowl for just 1 kr each so I bought plenty for future projects.

Do you know the answer? I sure would like to know if so. Life can be somewhat difficult sometimes...

Birthday present

I made this tote bag in black and blue for my friend Filip for his birthday. I was looking for fabrics a couple of weeks ago to make this idea complete and saw this intense blue fabric and thought of Filip. The thought was that he could carry books in it, but anything really. The strap was made long for carry on shoulder. The inside is blue and so are the front side pocket and one of the straps backside. I made a simple embroidery in the same blue color on the front and back edges. This was my first bag to make and so I learned a lot from making it and I think bag no 2 will be much better. I'm not planning on sewing one in the near future but it was quite fun doing something new so maybe next time I'll make it more advanced.

Notebook

I got this notebook a couple of years ago at Indiska on their sale, I bought two and gave one away. I haven't even used it yet and maybe it's because of the beautiful and funny illustrations on the front cover and the lovely crêpe sheets inside. I especially like Taking The Lost Children To The Police Post. The older is holding the little one's hand! This is how An Ideal Boy should spend his days. Good Habits. Think...with the voice of Apu (The Simpsons)in your head while reading from the illustrations...

I know a boy who love apples

My favourite fruit is not the apple but one of a favourite to draw. This is an oldie from december 2007 but I thought I show you ( who?? whoever visit my blog, would love to hear from you! ) this anyway. Now that I got illustrator and all I tend to be more of a perfectionist so every drawing process takes longer now than it used to do. It's good and bad, It all depends on how my mood is. Right now my energy has gone right out of me, I can't even understand I'm not lying in bed right now. But I'm very grateful for illustrator other days when my spirits high! thanks again Niklas for buying me illustrator, I'm sure It will help me a lot with developing my art!

Knitted socks

These will keep me warm the winter through. Spring isn't here until april if we're lucky. I know these would look better next fall thinking of the colors but I happened to have this wonderful aloe vera yarn that I wanted to do something with and I really needed to practice on the whole sock knitting process. I'm knitting others in blue aloe vera now, but after them I'm gonna lay low with the sock knitting, maybe do a crochet scarf for spring...we'll see.

At the rehearsal space with Jonas

This is some redone photos I took of Jonas last summer playing the guitar at the rehearsal space.
I really like taking these kind of photos, I used to be very interested in photography (it sure doesn't show, my head is not in for it now) and took some courses and so. I really wanted to be a photographer for live bands. I love going to concerts and the energy most of the band (members) put on stage was really something I wanted to capture. Thinking about it makes me miss it and wants to try to do it again...ahhh I don't know, I think I just may put up some of my old photos here.

Boy with pullover

The boy with the pullover is the saddest boy I know. He wasn't supposed to live now, instead he longs for something, somewhere else.

Pencil on paper and photostudio coloured.

My father the sailor

This is my dad when he was young. He was a sailor back in the 50's and 60's. Dad used to work with the machinery on boats, I guess sometimes the job passes on to the children as it was with me but as a projectionist. He traveled a lot and met the most beautiful and funny little woman in Argentina, my mom of course. They are still together after more than 30 years! and I'm not sure but it has always seemed that they didn't/don't have to try so hard to be together because they fit so good, the perfect match, the BIG love. That seems so rare these days.

Old photograph redone in Illustrator.

Illustration Friday: Plain

This is Bella and she´s a plain angry cat.
She's a Norwegian forest cat therefore she is just plain beautiful.

Ipod case

I just had to do a case for my ipod. This was just a quickie i did but I was quite pleased with it in the end anyway. I may do another fancier another time though. I sewed it together with a part of some leftover denim from jeans and felt on the inside so my precious ipod wont break if I drop it on the ground like I did with my older nano.

Illustrated bottles

These are my favourite soda bottles ever! They are from Läskfabriken i Vimmerby.
I'm so in love with these illustrations they put on their bottles. The one with the girl training the tiger is my favourite and it was also my first to get. These are my own I bought and received from friends and I sure would like to collect more but I really can't. I'm trying hard not to be a collector of all things.

Baby socks

Here are the finished result of the tiny little baby socks I did the other week. Aren't they adorable? I've started knitting a new pair of socks but in a grown up size for myself this time in wonderful aloe vera yarn.

Morning sun

And there was the morning sun shining through my window! yesterday was the best morning in a long time...
On being crafty, I've bought a pile of different fabrics last Wednesday which I'm going to use this coming week for projects. Lots and lots of fun to do!

A comfy knitted thing

I don't remember what type of yarn I knitted this scarf with but I can tell you it's quite comfy these cold winter nights. If only the sun would take a peek into my window tomorrow when I wake up even if it's just for a minute or two then I would be the happiest of all girls!

Illustration Friday: 100%

100% LOVE.

Cat got a flower in her hair!

So I made this flowered hairpin a couple a weeks ago together with the other one I've already put up here. It's such fun doing these flowers that I'm thinking of doing even more! I have a lot of sewing projects in my head and for that I really need a lot of new fabric, lots and lots of it!

Jan 6, 2008

and another bird...

...I did at work actually! I haven't been drawing the last 3 days but instead I've been knitting socks, tiny mini ones for a baby, but it was just so that I could learn how to make the heal part fast, no other reason. They are so cute! I was at Vendelas hantverk yesterday learning how to knit them, it was fun and the best part was that I learned something new. I have some details I want to do before I put them up here and that shouldn't take forever.
By the way...I now got a scanner! It really makes the difference.

Jan 2, 2008

birds birds birds!

I wanted to do some fast drawings but not of people so I took this book with photos of birds standing in my shelf just waiting for me and swoooshh an hour had just past. Maybe one day I'll even colour them. I'm just not a big fan of oil colours ( I know I could do some watercolour with it though). I used to be when I was younger but growing up being a little more of a perfectionist I find it somehow hard painting with oil. Not to mention you have to wait for it to dry in order to keep painting, who has the patience for that!!?? certainly not me. I'll stick to my drawing pen.

A new year, a new language. This is some of the last drawings I did in december 2007, theres more of that coming up this week.
