A Day In Photos - Went Sailing!

My summer couldn't have started better. Last Saturday we had an amazing day on a old steamboat with friends out in the archipelago. There's really nothing like this to remind you of the beauty we're surrounded by here in Stockholm.

The evening passed to a bright nordic night and we strolled the streets of the Old Town.

I was totally surprised by this wonderful sailing event! This means I can check off the sailing in my list of to do this summer. It seems I'm off on a good start this summer.

Project DIY

Thought I'd share my latest DIY project consisting of a thrift store sweater in beautiful red and a lace ribbon.
Easy as pie!
The thing that made me come up with this idea was that the neck width was too small for me and instead of hiding it away at the bottom of the drawer like so many other half finished projects I decided this sweater was to lovely to be forgotten.
I started with cutting of the neck part of the sweater and making the hole to a preferable size.

Gathered my favorite lace ribbons, in this case I decided to use the one at the bottom.

I folded and pinned the edges. Sewed twice with the machine.
I then sewed on the ribbon by hand right under the front edge.
I chose to only have a strip of ribbons between the collarbones but it could go around the whole neck too, it's just a little more work!

The ending result. Looks cute, right?

Now is the time to start creating!

My new desk + week activities

Score! I've got my dream desk finally! I haven't had the time to organize it yet but will soon. The right side has a extension and can be folded up and down depending on how much space you've got. We have it folded up so we're able to sit and work together. I just need to come up with a solution to gather all my stuff into one space, and that is  hard as there's not much drawer space on this desk.

Whenever I buy something new I try to get rid of something old and it's not always easy but is most necessary. Anyway, when I was cleaning out I found some old photos of me back in 1998. It was from my first visit to a music festival (Roskilde, Denmark) outside my hometown and it was crazy fun. But time flies....

These photos reminds me of when I started making my own jewelry and clothing. I wore my own beaded necklaces and bracelets and those t-shirts and pants were reconstructed by myself in my teenage room. Oh the nostalgia!

On other things, one of my new hand printed scarves was sold and shipped to a awesome girl in Australia, yay!
Makes me eager to make more soon!

Made new labels for my illustration & crochet jewelry. These are going to the incredible cute boutique Poplin here in Stockholm where my canvas bags and scarves already are displayed.

Oh! and I'm on Instagram under my name carolinagronholm. Add me if you'd like to see my everyday creative progress and silly stuff.. Are you there? Let me know!

Wishing you a great new week!

Local vintage finds + In search for the perfect desk

So this is what I do when I'm not producing my creative work.
I love to search for pretty vintage things and this week has been all about that, searching the web and going to shops in the area. I thought I'd share some of the things I brought home with me:

2 beautiful and petite plastic rugs. Sau had to inspect and sit on it of course!
I'm pretty sure they will look perfect on the balcony floor this spring/summer.

I found a very groovy Seiko plastic clock in bright red, still with the label (with an owl's head!) of the store. Runs perfect and is completely silent.

And this!...no not really, but perhaps soon. This is what I'm searching high and low for at the moment. The perfect desk. Wouldn't mind that Eames chair to go either...

Desk chair quest
..or everything in this picture..

Majestic Gunni Omann Danish Modern Teak Desk #75 (Denmark, Omann Junn Mobelfabrik, 1955)

Wish me good luck, I'm going on a desk hunt next week and maybe maybe I'll have something to show you in my next post!

Vintage and Etsy

These are some of the latest things I've bought on Etsy. I usually get stuck in all the wonderful vintage shops, and let me tell you, there are lots and lots of them!

The red/orange dress and blue dress are from Old Age. This was my first dress I got from oldage. Yellow and 60's cut, gorgeous!

This perfect bag is from Helisengezer. Corduroy fabric in yellow, yay!

This 2011 calendar resides on my kitchen wall at the moment. From Le Papier Studio.

Loving this 70's shirt from Action Vintage

And this I bought today! from Fox and Fawns. Will look amazing when wearing in about 3 or 4 months when the sun shines and the blue anemones grows. Spring please come soon!

Det finns mkt fint från olika utställare och det bjuds på livemusik, konstutställning och så finns det sjukt goda, seriöst, riktigt goda bullar som Melina och Gabriella gjort.

New cuff

Latest cuff in a wonderful mix of cotton/polyester/acrylic yarn in white and yellow. These vintage pastel colored buttons was a lucky thrift find from a local second hand shop last year. I really don't want to part from these buttons (sounds really stupid, I know) but I also know I just can't have them stored at home, especially when I have tons more. Have I mention I love buttons?

School days are over

I've always been very fascinated of storytelling, people's life stories and not just my own family but strangers too! Sometimes when waiting on the bus or tube I get to sit next to one of those old lady's or gentlemen who loves telling their story. Perhaps they feel alone and don't really have someone to listen but I don't mind sitting there, if it's good story I could sit there listening for hours. I haven't had one of those moments in a while now. They are rare and I love them, both the stories and the people who love telling. I found some old school pictures I wanted to share with you.

Look at the amazing hairstyles these hockey girls got! If I could do that with my hair!
This looks so playful and creative, love the swing horse with the boy sitting.
This is my favorite. Beautiful photo with adorable little girls!

Random vintage things I adore

I should like to walk in these one day - If I'm able. I can not imagine how much it must have hurt when falling on your face with these platforms! They're almost too much but that's how I like it. From closetcaseVNTG

Those platforms would look smashing good with this cute plaided mini dress and high knee socks. Love love love. From Zwzzy

And I would like to drink my morning tea in one of these lovable mugs. From VintageApartment
