Bear With Me

I started drawing this bear several months ago and it lay forgotten between other loose drawings of animals until I found it again. I guess it needed it's winter nap. Spring sun is here and spring flowers has popped up everywhere and what better time to see a newly awaken brown bear?

Bear with me, it takes time to see progress.

This spring I'm carrying a dreamy hare on my shoulder, and you could too!

Fox + Hare

As some of you may know, I graduated from Hyper Island - Motion Creative this June (yay!) and since then I've been busy having a well deserved summer break but I also managed to draw a bit. I'm currently working on different projects such as an animated music video, illustrations for an exhibition in August and a lot of personal projects. Many of them will be finished and released this fall. Below, Red Foxy Fox and Pink Lepus. Available as prints in my shop.

Pet portraits SALE! LOVE!

I do love drawing someone's loved pet, either it be a dog, cat, hedgehog or the cutest little pig. All animals are wonderful to draw and the most fun is to bring out that special trait from their personality. Or have the pet be in a another place and space in the drawing. One thing I always wished for but never gotten the chance to do is to draw animals in people's clothing.
I've been somewhat close, drawing cats in superhero capes and in roller-skates

During the rest of July I will draw your beloved pets with clothes, or without, in space,
in the wild, as a lion. Just the way you want it.
I'm reducing the price from $200 USD to $130 USD throughout the entire month in my Etsy shop

Here are examples of commissioned drawings:

Thank you everyone for your love and support!

Once I Was, short animation

Wow, almost 2 months have passed since my last blog update! I've been busy with school and my internship at a studio as motion designer began a couple of weeks ago. It's all very new and all very exciting. I'm living most days in Malmö (a southern part of Sweden for you who's not familiar with the area) and on weekends in Stockholm. Here's a short animation I finished in early January.
"Once I Was", same story like my fox illustration with the same title.

Personalized Pet Portrait: Meet George & Piper!

I was thrilled when asked to make another custom drawing, this time of beautiful kittens George and Piper.
Can't tell you how lucky I feel to get paid for drawing cats! I'm sincerely honored every time someone asks me if I can draw their pet for them.

I'm home with a cold and all I feel like doing at this moment is to crawl beside those adorable soft swan babies and sleep sweet dreams...

 Wishing you a great week!

Custom Pet Portrait

My first try on a dog portrait, what do you think?

I was approached on Etsy by a lovely customer who wanted a portrait of Cinder as a necklace, like my illustration necklaces I have in shop already.
This was my first take on drawing a dog, although I've drawn lots of other animals before. Anyway what I was thinking of was perhaps offering to do custom pet portraits in my shops, is this something that you would be interested in?

Dreamy Mountain Fox - New Illustration

I've been meaning to illustrate this fox I had an a encounter with ever since last summer when I very late at night where bicycling home. It was magical. Not only is it incredible peaceful to bike at night when everything is dark, warm and quiet but to meet a beautiful fox in Stockholm tops it all.

This below is the original inked drawing.

He's here again!
He's gained some weight since last time he showed up but then again I always had a love for fat cats.

A hedgehog summer

I see these cute little hedgehogs all the time from my bike, when taking walks, when having picnics in the park, from the bus window and from my balcony. They are the cutest little things ever!
And it was kind of fun drawing another animal for a change...Ha! (I'm trying not to go cat mad)

New illustration and portfolio

Remember the work in progress a couple of posts down?
Well it's done!

I've been working on my portfolio this week..so what do you think?

This is my first try so there will be some improvements later on.

I hope you're all good, I'm constantly thinking of the disaster in Japan.
Please remember the animals as well as the humans who need help. There are lots of ways to help. Farp has some more information, and I've posted some links on my twitter (@latenightdrawin).

Nostalgia and inspiration

Some days ago I got reminded of a film I haven't seen for a very long time. It was The Tales Of Beatrix Potter.
All the animals dressed up dancing classical ballet to beautiful orchestra music. Here's a little video I found:

When my sister and I were kids we used to look at this film every time it went on tv, we even had it recorded on vhs so we could look at it whenever we wanted to. I remember loving it and being afraid of some scenes at the same time. I know this film had a profound affect on me as a child and thinking back I know I must have gotten some inspiration from her amazing and delicate work.
I didn't know back then who Beatrix Potter was and that she was the maker of these characters, I hadn't yet seen these drawings:

So a couple of weeks ago on the subway I saw a poster for a exhibition of her work at Millesgården
and this got me thinking of the film, the inspiration, my childhood and suddenly I was in nostalgia land. I love when that happens, I really have sweet memories of my childhood - and thats even when I met my love J! (that's a story I might tell another time)
Anyway. The exhibition is open till May 15 so I'm going to go! Anyone wanna join? I've always wanted to go to Millesgården but it just haven't come up so this is a great opportunity, thinking late april/early may when the spring flowers are up and shining.

Apropos of inspiration, yesterday was a great day for drawing. I finished 3 original illustrations for the coming exhibition! So I now have 3 more in the midst of making and if super extraordinary inspiration kicks in I'll have some more originals for the shop in april!

Illustration & Crochet Necklaces

I'm enjoying making these illustration & crochet mixes so much, so it was just a matter of time before I made these necklaces. I had some of these with me on the latest craft market just to try them out and see how the feedback would be and they were the ones that sold most after my prints. I'm trying them out in the shop soon as well.

On other things. I'm not feeling the 2011 thing yet, feeling rather blah.
But as always, tomorrow is tomorrow and I guess the festivities will make my mood go woah!

In a drawing daze...

I'm drawing new, picking up old ones and finishing them. Adding new colors, experimenting and having fun.
And that is just what I did with Fat Bird On A Sunny Autumn Day.
